Our Story

Coastal Cruisers, a family-owned business located in the heart of Miramar Beach, FL, has been serving the community since 2005. Founded by John and Rose Kile, this premier bicycle store has grown steadily from its humble beginnings, fueled by a deep passion for biking and a commitment to providing exceptional service to each customer.

John Kile’s journey into the world of cycling began when he was young, participating in BMX races. His love for bikes and racing fueled his desire to stay on the team, and it wasn’t long before the owner of the team recognized his talent and passion. John’s mentor began teaching him how to repair and maintain bikes, sparking an interest that would turn into a lifelong career. From working at Walmart and other local businesses performing bike repairs, John gained valuable experience in bike maintenance, eventually honing his skills to perfection.

John's dedication to his craft and his vision to share that passion with others led him and his wife Rose to establish Coastal Cruisers from the ground up. John taught Rose the ins and outs of the business, and together, they have built a successful, thriving operation. Their love for bikes and their commitment to building strong, lasting relationships with their customers set them apart from competitors.

At Coastal Cruisers, we’re not just about selling bikes; we’re about fostering a community. Unlike larger corporations, we don't focus on making money—we focus on building relationships. I came to Destin from Helene ravaged NC for some much needed R&R and decided that having a beach cruiser would be nice to ride during my visit. After calling a couple other rental places with quotes that were higher than my tight budget: I thought maybe I could find a cheaper deal at a Thrift store. I was thrilled when the very next day I did find a gem at the Salvation Army in Ft Walton for 1/4 the price-including bike rack and funky purple pedals that I planned to swap out! Imagine my initial delight to be cruising along like a wild and free kid again only to have that joy dashed when the seat sunk into frame such that my knees ached and riding became difficult. Well, knowing every rose has it's thorns; I took Diamond Girl (my name for the bike) to PlayTri for some TLC only to have the 3 guys check her out and tell me she was a dud and waste of money. They claimed her seat post was the wrong size for her frame and also that the pedals were wrong too. I honestly cried as I pulled out of the lot but I was determined not to give up! I reached out to Coastal Cruisers and gave Rose the scoop as well as sent a couple photos. How funny to hear that DG had been of of their rentals that they donated awhile back! Well, not only were she and John able to easily fix the seat post issue...but they also swapped out the pedals which were the right size as originals after all! Compared to the other shop experience; Rose and John treated me with respect, kindness and as more than a valued customer~rather like an old friend. They also tightened a loose fender, lubricated the gears and gave great advice about care for the bike and car rack. Rose even reached back out the following day to see how the adjustments fared. I would never go anywhere else again. Diamond Girl and I are riding free once more and I'm so grateful. Rose and John at Coastal Cruisers are genuinely awesome folks who really care~Thanks you two!!!

The most wonderful bike rental shop in the gulf! We've been here a few times, and make it a point to visit this specific shop on every trip we take to the emerald coast. We've been to a few other bike shops in the area-none of them compare in terms of quality, pricing, or overall customer service. The bikes are well maintained and kept in amazing shape, they do all of the tune ups and repairs themselves, so you know you can trust your bike to be of the utmost quality. John and Rose are professional and personable, and amazing people to talk to. The rates are fair, and their location is perfect! It's about a 3 minute ride to the Scenic Highway near the beach, and it is our favorite thing to ride, gaze at the scenery, and stop at one of the many restaurants along the coast for lunch. 100% would recommend to anyone taking a trip here.
